Barney World, makers of the premium Barney Bed, approached me to design a playful, lively pattern for one of their orthopedic dog beds: something joyful that captured the small pleasures of life with dogs. This project marked the beginning of an ongoing partnership.
The Story
The idea grew from everyday dog-walk moments: picking up coffees, enjoying small treats, and celebrating the happiness dogs bring. I explored a range of concepts, and the client gravitated toward a theme of dancing dogs. The design debuted at a trade show alongside matching pajamas that will soon be released.
The Process
I started with loose sketches, developed them into a set of dancing-dog icons, and built them into a repeat pattern. After reviewing color options, we chose a clean blue-and-white palette. Once finalised, the pattern moved into production - an exciting moment seeing the artwork come to life.
